- Location: If you are searching for an office for rent in Virginia Highland, Atlanta, more than likely your goal is to be close to home. The closer, the better. A five minute walk or ¼ mile from where you live would be amazing. With a bike, that radius expands to about 1 mile from home for a five-minute commute. There are many great spaces available nearby with several different levels of density, sound and cost.
- Amenities: Office Space for lease near food! If food is important to you then it should be a big consideration when looking for office space to rent. There are not too many offices with coffee or lunch within their spaces. It helps though to have it within walking or driving distance; which brings us back to location. If something is “centrally located” it is likely close to food and coffee as well.
- Technology and internet: You can’t work without an internet connection these days. You can live without it for a little while but most of us are online the full 8-10 hours per day we are working. Make certain the internet connection is strong at any building you are considering and if not, make certain you can bring in your own line. Right now GoodWork Loft Offices has lightning fast fiber internet in its office space, but not all shared work spaces do.
- Be Clear on Fees: Be clear on what it is you are paying for. What is included? Utilities? Which ones? Water, electricity, internet, trash disposal, conference room use cleaning, parking and property taxes are all things a landlord or property manager could potentially bill back to you. So, make certain you know what you are agreeing to pay for before you are surprised by added fees. GoodWork is all inclusive office space, no extra fees added, but many lure you in with an affordable monthly fee then pack on the extras, which aren’t really extras at all.
- Office Style: Do you want hyper-professional looking Class A office space that bolsters your appearance to clients? Do you want casual, comfortable office space to rent; something that is just comfortable for you and the appearance to the outside world doesn’t matter? Are your clients casual and creative. Your office can say something about your style. Think about what you want it to say.
- Meeting Spaces: Do you need a space outside your home to meet with either team members, clients, students, or co-collaborators? And how often…if you are paying additionally for these break-out spaces, it could get expensive. What types of meeting spaces are available? Does your meeting space need to be set up in a lecture style? Does it need to be furnished with work tables? Do you need a round table? HDMI and a screen? Some offices are turning to what is referred to as a barrier free conference room, meaning there is no table (no barrier). Your meetings happen on sofas, in a conversational style setting.
That’s a good starting point. Good luck in your search and give GoodWork a try if it’s a good fit!
